F.A.Q. Frequently Asked Questions

– 1 day private tours –

Can I join other people who booked for the same day and same tour?
Sorry. Our 1-day guided tours are private tours only. Please invite as many friends or family members as you want. It is going to be only your private group.
What is special at WALK ABOUT TUSCANY?
Flexibility! Very easy to tailor the schedule to your needs. Do not hesitate to tell us about your special needs and interests (such as photographers, foodies, slow walkers, fast walkers…)
How can I choose the best walks?
Have a look at the pictures and videos in the “1 Day Private Tours” pages. If there is a picture or frame that particularly inspires you then here we go! Send an email to us and we will respond within a day or two so that we will plan your walking trip together.
How difficult are the walks?
Wherever you choose to walk, there will be many options to make walks shorter or longer. We know the area very well and we will tailor the walks upon your capabilities and requests.
The walks length varies between 2 miles and 10 miles. Your choice!
When do the walks start?
A half day tour starts normally at 9:00am and ends around 1:00pm. Or you may choose an afternoon walk that starts at 1:30 pm and ends around 5:00pm.
A full day tour starts at 9:30am and ends at 5:00pm.
Half day tour: 4 hours in total
Full day tour: 7 hours and half in total
Notice that this is indicative: time schedule is pretty flexible. We will let you decide at what time you are comfortable to join the tour.
What do I need to bring
The main items that you’ll need are a waterproof jacket and walking boots with full ankle suspension. Don’t forget a backpack, at least 2 small water bottles for each person, sunglasses and sunscreen lotion.
What are the arrangements for lunch
Depending on the walk you and your guide can stop by a small restaurant or trattoria sampling some local food. Sometimes you could need to buy your own tasteful picnic in advance. Lunch is not included in the guiding service price.
What happens if Gianni is not available for a specific date?
Other professional colleagues are going to substitute Gianni in case that he is not available due to some other previous guest’s booking. Have a look at heir bios in the About us page.
How do I book my guided tour?
We will ask you to send your credit card number.
What’s the cancellation policy for private walking trips?
– No cancellation fee before 2 months ahead of the tour
– 50% of the price of the tour cancellation fee if you cancel from 2 months up to 1 month ahead of the tour.
– If you cancel later than a month ahead of the tour the cancellation fee is 80% of the price of the tour.
(please understand that guiding season in Tuscany is only few months long and unexpected cancellations will affect our business)

– 8 day private tours –

In which dates do you offer this type of tour?
Anytime of the year! Please send us a inquiry and we will try to set up a private trip for you on your preferred dates.
What is your best all-inclusive tour?
We’ve been running our “8 day hilltop towns guided tour” very successfully for 4 years. Please read our reviews on TripAdvisor
Is it possible to buy a shorter (or longer) trip?
Yes! The trip is a private trip and we are happy to customize your trip according to your needs.
I cannot walk 5 miles each day. Can you help me?
No problem. We can plan shorter (or longer) walks. Our goal is your satisfaction.
I am vegetarian
In Tuscany there are many options for food. Lots of soups, vegetarian pastas and salads. No problem!
What type of accommodation?
The hotels we stay at are charming 3 star and 4 star inns. All located in town pedestrian areas. We believe that you will appreciate walking out of the hotel after your daily guided walk and have an aperitivo  on your own. Or maybe you would like to watch locals walking on the streets.
Will my room have a view?
According to availability we will try to accommodate you in a room with a view. Book early!
When is it the best time of the year to travel to Tuscany?
In general, the climate in Tuscany is very mild. Usually summers in Tuscany are hot with little or no rain. July and August are the hottest months (but still nice for walking). April, May, June, September, October and November are milder. Winter is colder but you still can count on many sunny days.

– 8 day scheduled group tours –

I am a solo traveler
We are happy to have you on-board! We will ask you to pay a single supplement or we can also try to match you with another guest of the same gender in case that another guest is interested in sharing a twin room with somebody else.
When does the tour get confirmed?
We provide GUARANTEED DEPARTURE! Even if we have just you on tour we are committed to operate the tour. Book soon with us and book your flight to Italy!
I would like to extend my trip for few more days. Can I do that?
Yes! You can book with us more days as a private tour in other regions, after or before the group tour. Please send us a request and we will try to make it happen.
What is the rate of tour in terms of lenght of the walks
Trip rating is 2+ (On a base of 1=easy to 5=strenuous.)
Length of walks: 5 to 7 miles (3-4 hours average) walks on each day, including relaxed town strolls. Make sure you are comfortable with this distance with some elevation gain. If you are not able to complete the walks you will be asked to pay for your own transportation (20-30 euros for a taxi ride, average) to get to the meeting point with rest of the group.
